Therapy for Adults

People come to therapy for different reasons. Whether this is related to difficulty with relationships, adjusting to a life change, feeling stuck in negative patterns, coping with stress, low self-esteem, anxiety or depression, therapy can help you make the changes you want to achieve your own goals. At its core, therapy is a collaborative process. I offer a supportive, nonjudgmental setting to help explore and navigate this process together.

Child Therapy

  • Is your child having difficulty at home, school or in relationships with peers?
  • Are you having difficulty managing or addressing your child’s behaviors or needs in ways that work and feel right for you and your child?
  • Does he/she experience developmental delays or has been diagnosed with a neurodevelopmental disorder or autism?

These are some of the concerns that I work with parents and children around in therapy. Together, therapy can help foster positive steps for your child that are simultaneously a good fit for your family’s hopes and needs. Therapy for children is predominantly based within play. This may be individual play therapy and/or parent-child dyadic therapy, particularly for very young children, and typically involves collateral parent work to be most effective. Collaboration with school and other involved service providers is also an important part of treatment.

Parental Guidance

Consultation and support is offered for parents around challenges that may arise in the context of a child’s development. This can be a primary focus of treatment, include brief information and consultation sessions, and/or help assess and identify areas of further need. Treatment integrates promotion of parental reflective functioning and may include areas such as:

  • Positive discipline strategies and supports
  • Support around transitions or life adjustments
  • Educational consultation to identify and advocate for your child’s school and classroom needs
  • Interpreting and applying recommendations from neuropsychological evaluations

School Consultation

My work within schools has offered the opportunity to collaborate with school teams and families to better understand a child’s needs and positive solutions to presenting challenges. This has included areas such as separation and transition to the school setting, as well as relational, behavioral and sensory needs.
